The inflatable rubber rings are used to
practice balance in a standing position, especially by elderly
patients. Wearing fixed-sole shoes, the patient steps on the ring
with both feet so that the metatarsal part rests on the upper
part of the ring and the heel on the opposite side. Sensory motor
coordination is improved by swinging, spreading weight or
exercising while standing on one foot. Series of rings laid out
as footprints create a track for practicing walking and running
on soft ground. The rings also serve for throwing, improving
eye-hand coordination and the grip. |
